New Delhi, April 12, 2025: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is set to release the official notification for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) by April 20, 2025. This highly anticipated announcement will initiate the registration process for aspiring teachers across India who wish to become eligible to teach in central government schools, including Kendriya Vidyalayas and Navodaya Vidyalayas.
The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) is a national-level examination designed to assess the eligibility of candidates for teaching positions in Classes 1 to 8. The exam consists of two papers: Paper 1, which is for teaching Classes 1 to 5, and Paper 2, which targets Classes 6 to 8. Candidates can take one or both papers based on their qualifications and career aspirations.
Eligibility criteria differ for the two papers. For Paper 1, applicants must have passed Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks and completed a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) or an equivalent qualification. For Paper 2, candidates need a graduation degree with a B.Ed or a two-year D.El.Ed with a 50% mark in Senior Secondary.
The registration process will be conducted online at ctet.nic.in. Applicants must register, provide personal and academic details, upload required documents, and pay an application fee NR 1,000 for one paper and INR 1,200 for both.
The CTET 2025 exam will be held offline in pen-and-paper mode, featuring multiple-choice questions designed to assess candidates’ teaching aptitude. Notably, the CTET eligibility certificate now carries lifetime validity, eliminating the need for re-examination.
Candidates are advised to monitor the official website regularly for updates on exam dates, admit cards, and the syllabus to ensure timely preparation and a successful application.
