The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) has officially released the schedule for the upcoming April-May 2025 public exams for secondary (Class 10) and senior secondary (Class 12) students. The theory exams will commence on April 9, 2025, and conclude on May 19, 2025. The exams will be held both within India and in international centers.
In addition to the theory exam schedule, NIOS has also announced the practical exam dates for Class 10 and Class 12. The practical exams will be conducted until April 1, 2025, with a daily time slot from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM. Students will be given 15 minutes of extra time before the exam to read through the question paper.
Admit Card and Guidelines
NIOS has instructed students to download their admit cards from the official website, sdmis.nios.ac.in. It is mandatory for all candidates to carry their NIOS admit card and a valid school ID card to the examination center. Additionally, students are advised to arrive at the venue 30 minutes before the scheduled exam time to ensure smooth entry.
Revised Exam and Certification Bylaws
The NIOS has also implemented significant changes to the Examination and Certification Bylaws 2012. These modifications pertain to the classification of examination centers, particularly regarding accredited and non-accredited institutes.
- Category A now exclusively includes Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs), Navodaya Vidyalayas (NVs), and Central Government Institutes. These institutes can serve as both accredited and non-accredited examination centers.
- Category C consists of CBSE and ICSE board-affiliated institutes that are accredited by NIOS.
- Category D includes schools and colleges recognized by other state and national boards.
- Notably, government-affiliated colleges and technical colleges have been removed from the list of examination centers.
